River Collection

There is something profoundly restorative about sitting beside a river. Time seems to slow as the water slips quietly past, its surface alive with shimmering light where the summer sun catches every ripple made by drifting ducks and the gentle rise of feeding fish. Tiny clouds of insects dance above the water, sparkling like scattered jewels, while the leafy canopy overhead softens the sunlight and fills the air with the whispered rustle of branches in the breeze. Then, breaking the silence, comes the unmistakable call of a kingfisher before a brilliant flash of sapphire blue and burnished orange races along the river’s edge. This collection celebrates those fleeting moments of peace, wonder and anticipation. It reflects not only the beauty of Britain’s rivers and their wildlife, but also the timeless connection between people and these tranquil places, where generations have paused to marvel at the same dazzling river jewel. Through painterly textures, soft light and intricate detail, these photographs invite you to linger beside the water and experience the quiet magic of the riverbank.

    Iridescent Silence

Iridescent Silence – Small Open Edition Fine Art Print

Juvenile Kingfisher in a rainbow of colour. For a fleeting moment, the river falls still. Against a tapestry of softened greens and blues, the kingfishers’ radiant plumage catches the light, each feather revealing a quiet spectrum of turquoise, cobalt and amber.

    Sunbathing

Sunbathing – Limited Edition Fine Art Print. SOLD OUT

Captured beside the River Tern in May 2025, Sunbathing preserves one of those wonderfully unexpected moments that remind us nature always works to its own rhythm. The day had remained cool, and the kingfishers had been nowhere to be seen. Then, breaking the silence, came the unmistakable, piercing call that could belong to no other bird.

    Fairy King

Fairy King – Limited Edition Fine Art Print

Captured beside the River Tern on a warm afternoon in May 2025, Fairy King portrays one of Britain’s most captivating birds in a moment of quiet vigilance. Although this is a female kingfisher, my encounter with her brought back a story told to me many decades ago as a child, that kingfishers were the chosen birds entrusted with carrying the fairy royal family across woodland rivers.

Tiny River Jewel – Limited Edition Fine Art Print

Captured along the River Tern in June 2026, Tiny River Jewel marks my very first encounter with a juvenile kingfisher, a moment that remains one of the most unforgettable of my time behind the camera.
