I was born and raised in the Dulais Valley in South Wales, where life unfolded in the shadow of the Black Mountains and the Bannau Brycheiniog. A connection with the natural world has shaped me from the very beginning. My fascination with photography started early, first sparked by my grandfather’s old Kodak Brownie, and deepened at fourteen when I chose my first Praktica SLR over a school trip abroad. That moment set the foundation for a lifelong passion.
Now based in the North Wales countryside, close to Wrexham, I’m fortunate to have wildlife right on my doorstep. I’ve combined my love of gardening and nature to create a pollinator‑friendly garden filled with flowers that attract insects and offer endless subjects for my macro work. Being outdoors grounds me; I feel a sense of natural magic and energy in the natural world that continually inspires my creativity.
My work centres around Flora, Feathers and Fauna, and I divide my time between macro photography and long‑lens wildlife work. I’m drawn to the intricate details of insects and flowers, exploring shallow depth of field to reveal texture, form and quiet moments of beauty. When photographing wildlife at longer focal lengths, I aim to capture character, behaviour and the subtle rhythms of every encounter. I work almost exclusively with natural light, using gentle, considered editing to preserve authenticity while enhancing the delicate qualities of each subject.
Presentation is a vital part of my process. My photographs are printed on Hahnemühle William Turner textured fine art paper, a professional medium that perfectly complements the subjects I capture. Its tactile, painterly surface enriches fine detail and gives each piece a subtle depth, almost a three‑dimensional quality, allowing the subject to feel alive on the page.
I’m proud to be a Welsh artist, inspired by the light, life and landscapes of the British Isles. Through my fine art prints, I hope to encourage others to slow down, look closer and discover the extraordinary detail hidden within the everyday.
