There is an enchanting quality to foxgloves that has inspired folklore for centuries. Tinkerbell celebrates both the quiet elegance of these native wildflowers and the stories woven around them through generations.
Captured in my North Wales garden during May 2026, these foxgloves had spent two years establishing themselves before rewarding the garden with their graceful spires of rich purple blooms. Their arrival transformed the borders into a haven for bees and other pollinators, each flower offering a welcome source of nectar throughout late spring.
According to old folklore, foxgloves were gifts from the fairy folk. It was said that fairies slipped the delicate bells over the paws of foxes, allowing them to move silently through the woodland under the cover of darkness. The intricate speckles that decorate the inside of every flower were believed to be the tiny footprints of the fairies themselves, left behind as they climbed in and out of each blossom beneath the moonlight.
Soft morning light and a gentle breeze revealed the delicate textures and intricate markings of each bloom, inviting a closer look at details so often overlooked. Tinkerbell is a celebration of the meeting of nature and imagination—a reminder that some of our most beautiful wildflowers still carry a little of the magic once believed to dwell within them.
